It defines six levels of proficiency, ranging from the most basic (A1) to the most advanced (C2), and describes what a student can do at each stage: speaking, listening, reading and writing.

What is it for?
To know your current level and set clear goals.

To compare certificates or exams between countries and schools.

To ensure a logical progression adapted to your needs.

The levels, explained in a simple way:
Level A – Basic User

A1: You can communicate simply, with short, familiar sentences.

A2: You already manage in your day to day life, ordering food, asking for directions, etc.

Level B – Independent User

B1: You can hold a conversation, give simple opinions and write short texts.

B2: You are fluent in many contexts and can now discuss more abstract topics.

Level C – Proficient User

C1: You communicate naturally, understand nuances and use rich vocabulary.

C2: You speak like (almost) a native, with subtleties, ironies and great precision.

And how do we apply this at Fun Languages Almada?
At our school, we organise our courses according to the CEFR, which is our starting point. But we also use the Cambridge exam stages (such as Starters, Movers, Flyers, PET, FCE, CAE and CPE), which align with the European framework levels.

The big difference?
Our curricula are personalized. Although they follow the European standard, we adapt the content, themes and pace to the needs and objectives of our students, whether they are a 6-year-old child, a teenager preparing for the FCE or an adult who wants to travel, change careers or simply communicate better.

Se estás a aprender uma nova língua, é provável que já te tenham perguntado “Qual é o teu nível?
